The laser pointer for Gazelle helicopters with Viviane sight is attached to the sight by means of two holed screws that must be carefully adjusted by ground personnel. This pointer has a remote control on/off switch. The power supply for the remote control and laser is inside the case.

The laser is sufficiently powerful to designate at a long distance, in infrared, and at any night-time light level.

The laser device is for use at night, the beam being visible only through night vision equipment (NVG).

The laser pointer Model PL GA VI 070 is used for:

• Viewing through NVG an observed point in the centre of the thermal image of the Viviane viewfinder,

• To designate:
  • Obstacles observed in a thermal image at a long distance for the crew of the Gazelle Viviane or other helicopters in the same formation,
  • An objective to be treated by a Gazelle gun, Tiger helicopter, an MH or 12.7 mm gun flying in formation with the Gazelle Viviane, ground troops,
  • Areas of operational interest (touchdown area, columns of vehicles, ground troops, etc.)
